Real kung fu robot, or the best robot ad of the year?
AgiBot's A3 trades kicks with kung fu stars. Real robot, real jumps, and also a scripted movie: what it shows, and what it doesn't.

A humanoid trading kicks with kung fu stars. Real robot, real jumps, and also a scripted movie. Here is what AgiBot's A3 really shows, and what it doesn't.
What A3 is. AgiBot unveiled the Expedition A3 in Shanghai in February 2026: 173 cm, 55 kg, 31 active joints (hands excluded). The company pitches it as a robot "born for the stage" for guiding, entertainment and commercial shows.
The series. The fights come from Peerless Master, AgiBot's own kung fu series, with martial-arts actors Fan Shaohuang and Zhang Lanxin.
- What's real: AgiBot's behind-the-scenes film shows wide on-set shots, with crew and crane in view, of the robot genuinely jumping and landing.
- What AgiBot claims: "real footage, no CGI, no AI", with the robot fighting through real-time perception and autonomous decisions. We can't independently verify how each move was triggered.
- What's staged: the scenes are scripted and rehearsed with stunt performers, then cut fast (about one second per shot by our count). Failed takes aren't disclosed. And a wireless remote is standard equipment on the A3, according to its own manual.
Why it matters. This is no lab prototype. Omdia counted 5,168 AgiBot humanoids shipped in 2025 and ranks AgiBot first worldwide; only Unitree, in its own prospectus, claims more (5,511). In March 2026 AgiBot says its 10,000th robot rolled off the line, and it was an A3.
So is this a breakthrough, or the best robot ad of the year? If it takes a script, a crane and stunt actors to look this good, what can it do on an ordinary Tuesday?
