**Contractors can't hire enough excavator operators. Bedrock Robotics' answer: make the excavators they already own dig on their own.**

On October 26, 2026 [Bedrock Robotics](https://www.behindrobotics.com/companies.html?id=bedrock-robotics&ref=hive.behindrobotics.com) announced a **$600M Series C at a $4.1B valuation**, co-led by CapitalG and Emergence (**Confirmed**, company release; TechCrunch). In February 2026 it was valued at **$1.75B** after a $270M Series B (Confirmed), roughly a 2.3× step-up (our calc: 4.1 / 1.75).

**What it sells:** an autonomy kit that retrofits excavators contractors already own. Bedrock says it has done paid, fully autonomous work on live sites since mid-August 2026 (**company claim**). Reported sites include a Nevada water treatment plant, Champion Site Prep in Texas and a Zachry project of 1.2M cubic yards (TechCrunch, from the company).

**Next (company claim, planned):** Haydon, a 100% employee-owned contractor in Tempe, starts with autonomous earthwork on a remote Texas site, then trenching and larger machines.

**Labour case (company release):** 87% of construction firms report open craft roles, and Bedrock says an operator needs 5+ years to master an excavator.

**Not disclosed:** how many machines or operating hours are running autonomously. Neither the release nor the coverage gives a number.

**Our tally:** this was the biggest private robot round announced between October 1 and 26 among the eight we ranked (\~$2.27B combined). Full chart: [October’s biggest robot check went to a digger, not a humanoid](https://hive.behindrobotics.com/bedrock-600m-autonomous-excavators/).
