No humanoids needed: ICON and MMI raise $325M in five days
ICON’s $200M Series D (Baillie Gifford + BlackRock funds) and MMI’s $125M Series D (BioStar) put $325M into construction printing and microsurgery robots. CNBC reports ICON at $1.4B; the company has not confirmed it.
ICON ($200M Series D) and MMI ($125M Series D) raised $325M between them in five days. The money went into robotic construction and microsurgery, with no general-purpose humanoid in either deal.[1][3]
Baillie Gifford and funds managed by BlackRock co-led ICON’s round, with Tiger Global, Norwest and others joining. The Austin company says it has built more than 270 homes and structures in five states and two countries, including 10 barracks under way at Fort Bliss since Jan 2026. It also says its Prime unit has won more than $370M in government contracts and that it is on pace for 4× revenue growth in 2026. The cash funds Titan production in Austin, a new Austin R&D facility, the Titan and Olympus programmes and US expansion.[1] CNBC reports a $1.4B valuation and $700M raised in total. ICON’s release gives neither figure.[2]
MMI’s round was led by BioStar Capital. MMI says about 50 Symani systems are installed and roughly 3,500 microsurgical procedures have been performed. Symani is FDA-authorised and CE-marked.[3]
