The biggest robot check went to a digger. The humanoid IPO shrank before it traded.

Week 44 on behindrobotics: Bedrock raises $600M at $4.1B for excavators already doing paid work, Agility's SPAC trust drains to ~$164M ahead of AGLT, cheap drone interceptors race into production, and four of the top five humanoid shippers are Chinese.

The Week in Behind Robotics, 2026-W44 (26 Oct – 1 Nov 2026)

Intro

The biggest cheque of the week didn't go to a humanoid. Bedrock Robotics raised $600M at a $4.1B valuation for excavators that already do paid work on US job sites.

The most-watched humanoid listing got smaller before it rang the bell. Agility's SPAC now expects about $465M gross, not the "$620M+" headline: the Churchill XI trust fell from ~$424M to ~$164M, roughly 61% redeemed by our math, and Foxconn's PIPE is what held. Vote is today, AGLT trades Nov 5.

Meanwhile Europe bet on robots that learn from a handful of demos, four Western labs rushed cheap Shahed interceptors toward production, and Counterpoint's numbers show four of the five biggest humanoid shippers are Chinese. Start with our own week.

This week on behindrobotics

1) October's biggest robot check went to a digger

Bedrock Robotics raised $600M at $4.1B, up from $1.75B in February, and tops October's eight biggest robot rounds (~$2.27B). Construction took 35%; the one humanoid, about 6%. → Read on hive · Short

2) Agility pitched $620M+. SPAC holders pulled ~61% of the trust

~$465M expected, trust ~$424M → ~$164M, Foxconn's PIPE held, $300M+ in Digit 5 orders (company claim). Vote Nov 2, AGLT Nov 5. → Read on hive

3) Tesla's profit fell 43%. Its answer: a robot line in Fremont

Optimus production starts on the old Model S/X floor as Q3 profit fell to $787M. Musk's 20,000-a-week target for end-2027 equals AgiBot's entire output to date. Tesla won't say how many it has built. → Read on hive

4) Robotaxis: who actually runs fleets

Waymo ~4,000 reported (3,067 confirmed), Pony.ai 1,975 confirmed, WeRide 1,800+. Waymo vs Cybercab is ~4,000 vs 300+ (Tesla claim), about 13x by our calc and not like-for-like. → Fleet scoreboard · Waymo vs Cybercab Short

5) Helsing: $18B, 4,300 HX-2 ordered, hit rate still a fight

Germany's 4,300 HX-2 order is ≈€270M (confirmed). Hit-rate evidence splits: 39/41 company claim vs 5/14 reported. Plus our full profile: founders, funding, contracts, every product on video. → Short · Full editorial

6) No GPS. Still hunting.

GPS-free lab demos go viral, but Skydio already has 1,070 Docks flying routes (confirmed) and Anduril shows 428 on the US FAA civil register (reported). → Read on hive

7) Boston Dynamics wants a $74,500 Spot to deliver two parcels

Genius or absurd? The demo is confirmed; the van maths and 200 packages a day are BD claims. → Read on hive

8) Field notes: nobody wins alone in a room full of robots

From a Shanghai founders-and-VCs salon: fire robots, deep-sea verification tanks, space embodied AI, and a LinkerBot hand passed around before any pitch deck. → Read on hive

Also on site: Eka's $1.45B Series A for force-sensing hands.

Number of the week

US$600M at US$4.1B. Bedrock Robotics' Series C (26 Oct), led by CapitalG and Emergence, about $1B raised in total. Its autonomous excavators started paid commercial work in mid-August 2026. That one round is about 1.8% of all 2026 robotics capital we track (≈ $33.6B). Bedrock on behindrobotics

Runners-up: Foundry Robotics $100M Series A · AgiBot ~9,700 humanoids shipped in H1 2026 (Counterpoint) · Opentrons 11,000+ lab robots deployed · D-Robotics >8M Sunrise chips shipped (claimed).

Top stories

1) The $20k answer to the Shahed: cheap interceptors race into production

In two weeks Helsing, Powerus, CHAOS and North Vector all launched or funded low-cost interceptors. CHAOS says VESPID production starts at 12,000 a year and can scale to 50,000 (claimed). North Vector raised a $20M Series A for its CM-70. Swarmer is buying Vataga's drone IP plus 15 engineers, and Beam Global is buying ScoutDI for about $24M. Why it matters: The contest is cost per kill and production volume, not demos. We track 22 counter-UAS companies with 12 rounds and $940M raised in 2026. 2) Reality checks: Kabam shuts down, EHang's air-taxi deliveries stall

Singapore's Kabam Robotics told customers its security-robot service stops on 20 Nov. EHang's filing shows EH216 deliveries fell from 52 in Q2 2025 to 4 in Q1 2026, then recovered to 35 in Q2 2026 after regulators turned cautious following a late-June accident; EHang withdrew its RMB 600M revenue guidance. Why it matters: Failure and stall stories land in the same week as mega-rounds. Deployment is harder than funding. EHang · Kabam: profile coming Sources: Straits Times · EHang SEC filing

3) Europe bets on fast-learning robots: Machenta $40M, Bleu €5M

Machenta's $40M seed (London), co-led by Creandum and USV, is described as the largest UK robotics seed. Paris-based Bleu Robotics raised a €5M pre-seed for humanoid software it says learns a task from fewer than 10 demos in under an hour (claimed; tested on a Unitree G1 and a Franka arm). For contrast, Physical Intelligence is reportedly in talks to raise at least $1B at about $20B (Bloomberg, not closed). Why it matters: Europe is competing on data efficiency, not war chests. Machenta, Bleu: profiles coming · Physical Intelligence Sources: Tech.eu · Creandum · Robrief

Honorable mentions: Foundry Robotics raised a $100M Series A for contract robotic assembly factories (five paying customers including HII) · Opentrons $40M Series E, 11,000+ lab robots deployed · FF EAI Robotics closed its ~$200M all-stock buy of Faraday Future's robotics business · Rendezvous Robotics $20M seed for self-assembling spacecraft · Innok Robotics is on a SPAC path.

One to watch

Machenta (London). A $40M seed, co-led by Creandum and USV and described as the largest UK robotics seed, for a team betting on robots that learn new tasks from very little data. The cleanest European counterweight this week to the US and Chinese mega-rounds. Profile coming.

Watch Nov 5: if AGLT opens on schedule, Agility becomes the first US pure-play humanoid stock, and we'll flip its status in the database. The scoreboard keeps units, sites and capital separate, so use it to check who is actually shipping. Data updates land Wednesdays. Reply with what we should dig into next week.
